The Moncks Corner man who police said defended his family last month by shooting an armed intruder to death has been jailed a second time in connection with a federal drug probe, court documents and officials said.
Justin Washington, 27, was free on bail in the federal case and confined to his house when a masked gunman broke into his home last month. With his wife and two children terrified, Washington shot the burglar four times, investigators said.
Washington was not allowed to have a gun under the conditions of his release on a felony charge of conspiring to possess more than 500 grams of cocaine with intent to distribute. Federal authorities arrested him Tuesday, a Berkeley County sheriff’s spokesman said. He was expected to be transferred to Texas to face the federal charge.
His arrest is not expected to change officials’ ruling that Washington acted legally in self-defense when he
