WACO, Texas (KWTX) A man and a woman who were originally charged with capital murder in a deadly home invasion shooting in 2015 near the Baylor campus are headed to prison after pleading guilty to lesser offenses Tuesday.

Garrett Gage, 19, and Cierra McKenzie Barber, 22, were charged in connection with the February 2015 incident that left Braeden Freeman, 20, of Waco, and Keith William McClure, 19, of Temple, dead.

Gage was injured by gunfire during the robbery.

They both pleaded guilty Tuesday to the lesser offense of aggravated robbery.

Barber was sentenced to 30 years in prison and Gage received a 40-year sentence.

In December, Gage refused a plea deal in the case.

Police say Barber drove Gage and McClure to the target apartment in the 1900 block of South 16th Street on the night of the crime.
