There Were Less Homicides After DC’s Handgun Ban Was Lifted …

Eliminating the District of Columbia’s comprehensive handgun ban had almost no effect on homicides committed with or without such firearms in the nation’s capital, according to an analysis by The Daily Caller News Foundation’s Investigative Group.

Nearly 80 percent of all D.C. homicide victims from 2000 through 2007 were killed with a gun, city and federal data compiled by The Washington Post and analyzed by TheDCNF found. That figure dropped to 74 percent after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in District of Columbia v. Heller that Washington’s handgun ban was unconstitutional in 2008.

But, as the above graph illustrates, the post-Heller decrease in both the annual number of gun-related homicides and all homicides extended an overall trend that began in 2002 and continued through 2012.

The post-Heller decrease was observed despite a 2013 incident in which one man killed 12 people at the Washington Navy Yard. Attacker

HEAR IT: Oklahoma man calls 911 after killing 3 teen intruders

An Oklahoma man who fatally shot three teen intruders with an AR-15 rifle told a 911 operator he believed he shot two of the would-be burglars.

Authorities released the recording on Wednesday, two days after 23-year-old Zach Peters shot Maxwell Cook, 19, Jacob Redfearn, 17, and 16-year-old Jaykob Woodruff with an AR-15 rifle.

“I shot two of them, now I am barricaded in my bedroom,” he tells the 911 operator. “I can hear one of them talking.”

The 911 operator later asks him what he used to shoot the intruders.

“An AR-15,” he said. “I am still armed in the southeast corner of my house.”

A 21-year-old woman who drove three teen burglars to the Broken Arrow home planned the attempted home invasion herself, authorities say.

Elizabeth Rodriguez “had previous knowledge of the house and the home owner” and knew the man

An Oklahoma woman is facing three counts of first degree murder and three counts of first-degree burglary after three masked home invaders were shot and killed by a 19-year old man as they broke into his father’s home.

Three teens dressed in black and wearing masks and gloves were killed by a resident when they broke into a home, Oklahoma authorities said Monday.

The 23-year-old son of the homeowner fired shots from a rifle; officials said. One suspect had a knife, another carried brass knuckles.

“Preliminary investigation looks like it’s self-defense,” said Wagoner County Sheriff’s Deputy Nick Mahoney, cautioning the investigation was continuing into the midday home invasion.

The shooter voluntarily spoke with investigators. Neither he nor his father were hurt.

Three intruders killed after Broken Arrow home invasion, deputies say

BROKEN ARROW — Three people were killed Monday in Broken Arrow after a home invasion.

The Wagoner County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the triple homicide in the 9100 block of South Clearview Drive.

Wagoner County deputies said at about 12:30 p.m., three masked intruders entered the home, which was occupied by a father his 23-year-old son.

Deputies said the son shot and killed the three intruders with an AR-15. Police said two of the intruders were juveniles and another was an adult.

The father and son were unharmed.

“This is not something that happens frequently here,” said Wagoner County Sheriff Deputy Nick Mahoney. “We don’t generally have triple shootings inside Wagoner County. This is a very nice neighborhood and the neighbors have all been concerned. It’s not something that happens.”

Deputies are investigating how the men arrived at the home.

Sheriff deputies said the preliminary investigation shows that the shooting was an act of self defense. After searching
