Oak Park man, 19, charged in shooting of 2 cops

A 19-year-old Oak Park man who told police he fired a shotgun blast through his door because he feared for his life was charged Wednesday in the shooting that wounded two Detroit Police officers.

Wayne County prosecutors allege Juwan Alexander Plummer shot the officers as they were responding to reports of a burglary just before midnight Sunday at a vacant home in the 20500 block of Lesure on the city’s northwest side.

Plummer is charged with two counts each of: Intentional discharge of a firearm in a building causing serious injury; intentional discharge of a firearm in a building causing injury; felonious assault; and four counts of felony firearm. The charges carry more than 20 years in prison.

Woman charged with murder in Oklahoma home invasion planned the crime: police

carlballou/iStock/Thinkstock(BROKEN ARROW, Okla.) — Elizabeth Rodriguez, the woman who allegedly drove three teenage boys to a home in Oklahoma where they were shot to death after attempting a home invasion robbery, told investigators that she planned the crime, officials said.

She also told investigators that she left one of the burglars for dead, according to police.

The Wagoner County Sheriff’s office arrested Rodriguez on three first-degree murder and three first-degree burglary warrants and jailed her without bond after she told them that she had information about a shooting that took place at a home in Broken Arrow, a suburb of Tulsa.

Rodriguez waived her right to an attorney in speaking with investigators today, police said, and claimed that she had no personal connection to Zachary Peters, the 22-year-old victim of the alleged home invasion attempt, whose actions are being investigated as a potential act of self-defense under the state’s “Stand

Woman charged in connection to home invasion at Oakley Pointe Boulevard

A woman is being charged in connection to a home invasion that left one man dead last night at Post Oak Circle, Moncks Corner Police Chief Rick Ollic said at press conference on Wednesday.

Juanita Marie English, 28, of Ladson, is being charged with first degree burglary after officials say she impersonated a home owner’s association member to help Elijah A. White, 30, of North Charleston, invade a home in the Oakley Pointe Community in Moncks Corner on Tuesday. White was found dead at the scene where authorities responded around 8 p.m.

Officials say English, wearing a false HOA badge as someone “trying to learn about that neighborhood, dialoged with the the wife of the homeowner. Officials say English then signaled to White who, from a dark colored Sudan, approached the home masked, gloved, and armed with a pistol with a laser pointing at the doorway.

Mental evaluation sought for man charged in Richmond home invasion

Sagadahoc County prosecutors are seeking a mental examination of a Richmond man who allegedly tried to break into an apartment Wednesday morning and was shot by a man staying in the apartment.

The man, Shad A. Hembree, 42, is now at Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset. He appeared before a judge in Waldo County by video Friday afternoon and his bail was set at $10,000 cash with a Maine Pretrial Services contract.

‘It’s a sad set of circumstances’: Man charged in home invasion that …

The 19-year-old man charged with robbery in a Jan. 19 home invasion in Penbrook that left his 16-year-old cousin dead was bound over for court Thursday.

Davaughn Allazay Jackson, of South 28th Street, Penbrook, waived his preliminary hearing Thursday morning before District Judge James Lenker, and now faces court action on charges of robbery, burglary, conspiracy, tampering with evidence and falsely incriminating another person.

Jackson and his 16-year-old cousin are accused of breaking into the house in the 2500 block of Walnut Street with a hammer, wearing masks, to steal an Xbox, video games and money, court records say.

The 16-year-old was shot by the home owner, Harvey Eden, police have said.

Eden acted in self-defense and will not be charged, said Michael Sprow, chief Dauphin County deputy district attorney. “The laws allow you to defend your house with deadly force,”

Homeowner charged with manslaughter for shooting at home invasion suspects

A Minnesota homeowner is facing manslaughter charges after he told police he shot at a group of men who had tried breaking into his home, and one of the suspects later died in the hospital.

David Allen Pettersen, 65, called police around 7 a.m. Saturday to report a possible burglary and shooting at his home in Fieldon Township, just south of Madelia. According to the charging documents, Pettersen told the dispatcher he fired his handgun at a gray car that was leaving his property after an attempted burglary.

A deputy responding to the call found the car 2 miles north of Pettersen’s home, with three people inside. One of the passengers, 19-year-old Nicolas Thomas Embertson, had a gunshot wound and later died at Madelia Hospital.
