Grandfather Of Teen Shot In Break-In Says Homeowner’s Gun Made …

A family member of one of three teen suspects killed after breaking into a Cookson, Oklahoma home Monday, claims there should be a limit to self-defense laws.

“There’s got to be a limit to that law, I mean he shot all three of them; there was no need for that,” said Jacob Schumacher, grandfather of Jacob Redfearn.

17 year-old Redfearn was shot and killed during the home invasion.

The homeowner’s son has not been charged. Deputies believe he fired in self-defense.

Schumacher tells KTUL-TV, his grandson didn’t have a chance.

“Brass knuckles against an AR-15, come on, who was afraid for their life,” said Schumacher.

“They knew they could be punished for it but they did not deserve to die,” said Schumacher.

Redfearn, 19-year old Maxwell Cook and 16-year old Jake Woodruff were shot by the homeowner’s son while breaking into the home last week.

Schumacher does say he supports the right to bear arms and protect

Grandfather of Oklahoma teen killed by homeowner in burglary says AR15 made for ‘unfair’ fight

Three Oklahoma teenagers were killed last week when they broke into a house and were met by a homeowner with an AR15. Now the grandfather of one of the teenagers is speaking out about his grandson’s death.

According to KTUL-TV, Leroy Schumacher, grandfather of 17-year-old Jacob Redfearn, believes the death of Redfearn was unjustified because the homeowner’s AR15 gave him an unfair advantage over the three burglars.

Speaking to KTUL, Schumacher acknowledged that breaking into a house was “stupid,” but death was not the appropriate consequence.

“What these three boys did was stupid,” Schumacher said. “They knew they could be punished for it but they did not deserve to die.”

“Brass knuckles against an AR-15? C’mon. Who was afraid for their life?” Schumacher said.

The homeowner who pulled the trigger has not been charged with any crimes because police say he acted in self-defense. But Schumacher reinterated his belief that the consequences

“Self-defense:” 3 masked, armed home invaders killed by homeowner in Oklahoma

BROKEN ARROW, Oklahoma — Three teens dressed in black and wearing masks and gloves were killed by a resident when they broke into a home, Oklahoma authorities said Monday, March 27th.

The 23-year-old son of the homeowner fired shots from a rifle; officials said. One suspect had a knife, another carried brass knuckles.

“Preliminary investigation looks like it’s self-defense,” said Wagoner County Sheriff’s Deputy Nick Mahoney, cautioning the investigation was continuing into the midday home invasion.

The shooter voluntarily spoke with investigators. Neither he nor his father were hurt.

A 21-year-old woman turned herself into Broken Arrow police and may have been a getaway driver, Mahoney said.

Shortly before 12:30 p.m., the apparent burglars broke through a door in the back of the home outside Broken Arrow, a Tulsa suburb. The young man, who was there with his father, encountered them.

“There was a short exchange of words, then gunfire happened,” Mahoney told reporters.

Police Chief Rick Ollic told reporters Wednesday afternoon their investigation revealed a man the Berkeley County Coroner identified as Elijah A. White, Jr., 30, forced his way into a home on Post Oak Court off Highway 52. White was armed with a handgun and wearing a mask and gloves, he said.

“We also retrieved from him rope, which I believe he was going to tie up the victims if he got into the residence, so there was no doubt he was there to do some serious harm to this family,” Ollic said.

Homeowner forced into harrowing decision

Suspect fatally shot after attempting home invasion

*CORRECTION: CCNA previously reported that the suspect was disarmed during the scuffle prior to the shooting. Baxter Springs Chief of Police Mike Kliewer has confirmed that was false and that Saggert was not disarmed prior to the fatal gunshot.*

BAXTER SPRINGS – It’s a frightening ordeal to imagine, but one Baxter Springs resident was recently the victim of an attempted home invasion in broad daylight. The nightmarish situation forced the homeowner into what is being called a self-defense shooting. The home invasion occurred early Sunday afternoon at 234 East 6th Street, in Baxter Springs.

Baxter Springs Chief of Police Mike Kliewer said the suspect entered the residence armed with a knife. The home owners were present at the time, and the suspect assaulted and threatened the home owners with aforementioned knife. After a struggle, one of
