D.A. says no charges in deadly attempted home invasion case – WITN

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – Onslow County’s district attorney says there will be no charges brought against a resident who shot and killed a would-be home invader earlier this week.

Stacey Ross, Jr., 20, was killed Tuesday night after police say he and four others tried to force their way into a man’s apartment at Carolina Place Apartments on Delaney Drive in Jacksonville.

District Attorney Ernie Lee says the resident, who hasn’t been identified, fired in self defense.

Police were able to track down the other four people involved in the attempted home invasion.

Joshua Cordts, 18; Sean Padgett, 18; Steven Lewis, 18; and Haleigh Noling, 17, were all charged with attempted armed robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Harrisonburg Police Department shares what to do during a home invasion

HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) — A Washington state homeowner was arrested on murder charges on Saturday after police announced he fatally shot a man found taking a shower in his home.

The Mason County Sheriff’s office said he was arrested on second-degree murder charges. There are still more details that have yet to be released, but police say the homeowner had enough time to call for help before firing the shots.

Harrisonburg police say this was the opposite way things should’ve been handled. Officer Heather Higgins said the first step is always to contact authorities, who are properly trained to handle dangerous situations.

USA –-(Ammoland.com)- Click on Detroit reports this week, 03-22-2017, Police sources say just after 8 a.m. Tuesday, a 21-year-old armed man broke into his ex-girlfriend’s home by kicking in the door. The apparent home invasion took place in the 3900 block of Wabash Street on Detroit’s west side.

Neighbors said the woman hasn’t lived at the apartment for long, but her garage door and window already have scratches and dents caused last week by her ex-boyfriend.

The neighbor reported the 21 year old intruder had been stalking his ex-girlfriend.

Puleaga Danny Tupu, 33, of West Valley City, was shot and killed about 3:15 a.m. Thursday after Salt Lake City police say he and another man broke into an apartment at Park Place at City Center, 731 S. 300 East.

Three adults were inside the apartment at the time. Once inside, police say there was some sort of confrontation, and one of the adults fired multiple rounds at the home invasion suspects.

Tupu died inside the apartment. The other man was shot multiple times before running out. He was found by police outside the apartment and taken to a local hospital, where he was later upgraded from critical to serious condition. That man’s name was not immediately released.

Oklahoma home invasion shooting: 3 victims broke into property earlier that day

Three Oklahoma teenagers who were shot dead during a suspected home invasion this week broke into a detached garage on the property earlier the same day and stole liquor from a game room, authorities said Thursday.

Maxwell Cook, Jacob Redfern and Jakob Woodruff robbed the converted apartment earlier Monday and decided to return the house in an affluent Tulsa-area neighborhood after a woman suspected of driving them there had “indirect knowledge” there might be expensive items to steal inside, Wagoner County sheriff’s deputy Nick Mahoney said.

The alleged getaway driver, 21-year-old Elizabeth Marie Rodriguez, is jailed without bond on murder and burglary warrants. Jail records don’t list an attorney for her.

“(Rodriguez) had indirect knowledge of the household and knew indirectly there would be expensive items, and they decided that was the house to burglarize,” Mahoney said.

Resident shoots 2 home invasion suspects, killing 1, police say

SALT LAKE CITY — A resident shot two men — one was killed and one was seriously injured — after police say the men broke into the resident’s apartment early Thursday.

About 3:15 a.m. two men entered an apartment at Park Place at City Center, 731 S. 300 East. Information about how the men got into the apartment was not immediately released.

Three adults were inside the apartment at the time, said Salt Lake Police Sgt. Brandon Shearer. Once inside, there was some sort of confrontation and one of the adults fired multiple rounds at the home invasion suspects.

One of the suspects died inside the apartment. The other man was shot multiple times before running out, Shearer said.
