Banning guns in state parks a bad decision

Superior Court Judge T. Henley Graves’ December decision to support a gun ban in Delaware’s 17 state parks and other forests is disappointing in an era of school killings, bomb scares, home invasions, and especially the random blowback attacks from our feckless Middle East interventions that we witness.

If you missed the story in the Cape Gazette Jan. 24, the lawsuit centers on a Second Amendment, self-defense constitutional argument about whether state regulations banning firearms in state parks and forests violate the Delaware Constitution.

Or, said differently, the question is really whether the natural right of personal self-defense can be selectively discriminated against, especially in a state where the concealed carrying of firearms is permitted after one fulfills the arduous state requirements?

Judge Graves thinks so. He concluded that the inability to carry deadly weapons in parks and forests causes no unreasonable burden on the plaintiffs and that “their right to bear arms

C. Richard Archie: State constitution spells out limits on carrying guns

The Supreme Court of Tennessee opined in Andrews v. State, 50 Tenn. 165, 181 (1871): “The Tennessee Supreme Court has recognized that the General Assembly has the authority, under this section of the Constitution, to enact legislation to regulate the wearing and carrying of arms in public. .. Any such enactment; however,

NBC-2.com WBBH News for Fort Myers, Cape Coral Naples, Florida

For the second time in just over two weeks, a good Samaritan stopped on Florida’s I-75 to help a law enforcement officer in need.

Jeffery Duclos, who happens to be a veteran and retired Rhode Island police officer, was traveling on the highway in Collier County when he noticed the Florida Highway Patrol trooper being attacked by two suspects. Dulcos, fearing the trooper might not go home that night, pulled over and intervened.

“I think the kid saw me coming, so he basically surrendered,” Duclos said.

The trooper pulled over Richard Lazo Torres and Isaac Ruiz Wilson after he clocked them at driving over 100 miles per hour, but after pulling to the side of the road, Torres and Wilson switched seats in an apparent effort to hide the fact that
