Good Samaritan stops suspect who was beating woman on NYC street

A good Samaritan interrupted a would-be mugger as he pummeled a woman into unconsciousness a block away from her Lower East Side home, officials said Monday.

The 61-year-old victim suffered bleeding on her brain, and needed to be intubated after the Saturday attack, prosecutors said

Police sources said the attacker, Devin Brown, 23, was looming over the victim on Forsyth St. near Stanton St., by Sara D. Roosevelt Park, when a passing motorist noticed her legs sticking out from behind a tree at 6 a.m.

The witness got out of his car and asked Brown what he was doing, and Brown twice yelled out, “She robbed me!”

Good Samaritan Stops Gunman at Texas Bar

ARLINGTON, Texas — A concealed carry holder is being heralded as a hero by Arlington police for preventing mass murder by killing an “incoherent” gunman at a sports bar Wednesday evening.

Before he was shot about 6:15 p.m., the gunman killed the manager of Zona Caliente in the 6500 block of South Cooper Street, police spokesman Christopher Cook said.

Police later identified the gunman as 48-year-old James Jones of Grand Prairie and the victim as 37-year-old Cesar Perez of Duncanville. The man who killed Jones has not been identified.

Authorities later found two loaded guns and two knives on Jones, Cook said Thursday.

“We do believe he had the capacity to do much greater harm,” Cook said.

When Jones entered the business, some witnesses told police, he started yelling incoherently while standing at the bar.

“People didn’t know who he was yelling at,” Cook said.

Perez was trying to talk to Jones when he was fatally shot. Police do not believe they

Good Samaritan Stops Reckless Driver On I-24 – NewsChannel 5 …

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – A Good Samaritan noticed a driver recklessly swerving across Interstate 24 around 1 a.m. Thursday morning, so he followed the driver while he called dispatch.

“You could tell by the way he was driving that something was going on,” Nashville resident Cory Buckner said. “He ran several cars off the road.”

After following the driver for several miles, Buckner said the black Mustang finally pulled off to side of the road near mile marker 14 in Montgomery County. Buckner stayed back, but also pulled over, waiting for police to respond.

That’s when the reckless driver pulled a u-turn and started driving the wrong way on I-24.

“He actually split two cars, and I thought for sure he had wrecked,” Buckner said.

But the driver kept driving toward Buckner.

“I saw cars behind me, and I knew I wouldn’t feel good about myself if I let this guy get past me,” he said.

So Buckner pulled his Kia

I was assured by supporters of gun control that this sort of thing never happens.

Monday night police were dispatched to a stabbing at 10 Marie Lane, where they found 47-year-old Darren Terry with three lacerations. He was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Darren’s brother, 30-year-old Chris Terry, was taken into custody for first-degree domestic battery in the case and is being held at the Lonoke County jail on a $10,000 bond.

Upon further investigation, authorities learned a Good Samaritan, identified as Lt. Brandon Teel, witnessed the incident and reported the crime to police.

When he realized the severity of the fight, police say Teel took out his concealed weapon, for which he has a valid permit, and held the suspect until Austin officers were able to take him into custody.

Teel, 35, of Ward, is an

Police: Good Samaritan stops robbery suspect at pharmacy in Lansdowne

A good Samaritan stopped a suspect following a robbery of a pharmacy in Lansdowne Tuesday, and held the suspect until officers arrived, Baltimore County police said.

The suspect, Robert James Richter, 37, of the 5400 block of East Drive, was charged with armed robbery, first-degree assault and grand theft, police said. Police did not release the good Samaritan’s name.

The incident at the Baltimore Highlands Pharmacy in the 4100 block of Annapolis Road was reported to police at 4:14 p.m., when an employee pushed a holdup alarm button, officials said.

Richter had entered the store, pointed a gun at an employee and demanded pills and pharmaceuticals that are kept in a locked area, police said.
