Driver arrested in LIE wrong-way crash in Plainview, police say

A Westchester County man was arrested and charged with DWI and reckless endangerment after he drove the wrong way on the Long Island Expressway early Monday — crashing into another vehicle in Plainview and injuring the driver, police said.

Police said John Durant, 41, of Pelham, drove westbound in the eastbound lanes of the LIE at Wicks Road in Brentwood in a 2007 Nissan Murano. At about 4 a.m. on Monday, he crashed into a 2013 Nissan Altima near Exit 46 in Plainview, police said.

The Altima driver, Fatma Parwana, 24, of Medford, was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip and treated for injuries that are not considered life-threatening, according to police. She was later released.

Durant, who also was taken to Good Samaritan, was charged with driving while intoxicated and first-degree reckless endangerment, police said. His arraignment will occur at a later date.

The crash closed the eastbound roadway

America’s 1st Freedom | Armed Texan Proves Gun-Banners Wrong …

Demanding Moms head Shannon Watts has been proven wrong once again.

I’ve mentioned before in this column how Watts, head of Bloomberg’s astroturf advocacy group Moms Demand Action, has consistently bashed NRA EVP Wayne LaPierre’s statement that “the only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.” Watts has even gone so far as to say, “This has never happened. Data shows it doesn’t happen.”

Luckily, a Texas concealed-carry permit holder didn’t listen to Watts and leave his gun at home when he went out to eat last Wednesday evening. Instead, he stopped what might have ended up being a grisly mass murder scene.

Here’s the story.

Last Wednesday night about 6:15, 48-year-old James Jones walked into Arlington sports bar/restaurant Zona Caliente and began yelling incoherently, then approached the manager and shot him to death. An armed man who was eating at the restaurant with his

Armed Texan Proves Gun-Banners Wrong—AGAIN!

The Mainstream Media Gets ‘Stand Your Ground’ Laws Wrong — Again

I’ll give the mainstream media this much: It’s absolutely consistent in its inability to understand or explain use-of-force law generally and “Stand-Your-Ground” laws in particular.

The most recent example comes out of Tulsa, Oklahoma, where this past Monday a 23-year-old staying at his father’s home encountered three armed assailants who had forcibly entered by kicking in the back door.

Unfortunately for these home invaders, the 23-year-old possessed a loaded AR-15 rifle, and he knew how to use it. All three suspects ended up dead. A fourth, the getaway driver, would later turn herself into police. The shooter immediately called 911 to report the incident, a call which is remarkable in its own right. (Seriously, go listen to it.)

As seems inevitable in any media coverage of a self-defense shooting, news reports of the incident routinely made reference to “Stand-Your-Ground”:

“The homeowner’s son who shot them has not been arrested while police

Man launches shocking attack on Thameslink Good Samaritan for waking him up at wrong stop

This is the horrific moment a thug attacked a Good Samritan for waking him up at the wrong station and “making him look stupid”.

Footage shows Sam Pearce, 24, flying into a violent rage after having his sleep disturbed on a Thameslink service from London St Pancras.

Pearce appears to grab the man around the neck and hurls him to the floor before punching him several times and holding him down using his knee.

He is then seen dragging the man, dressed in a yellow top, out on to the platform and kicking him as he tried to get on board.

The violence then spills out on to the platform in front of shocked passengers.

British Transport Police said the victim, a 39-year-old man, had mistakenly thought the train had reached its final stop and alerted Pearce.

When the pair got off and discovered
